Hey, hey! The Monkees Touring Again
03/08/11
After much internal strife over the past two decades, 3 of 4 of The Monkees are going on a 45th Anniversary Tour. In a significant shift, Tork now takes full responsibility for the backstage problems on the 2001 tour. Peter Tork acknowledges, "I really just behaved inappropriately, honestly. I apologized to them". The three Monkees will bring on other musicians for the tour, but Tork wants to strip it back at points. Founding member Michael Nesmith isn't participating in the tour: His mother invented Liquid Paper and left him with her fortune, leaving him financially secure for life. Two years ago Tork feared that he might never tour again when he was diagnosed with a rare form of head-neck cancer called Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. In recovery, Tork says, "I'm excruciatingly lucky. I count my blessings every day." Date for the tour will be forthcoming.

In the wake of an incendiary radio interview with "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen, CBS and Warner Bros. Television said they are ending production on TV's top-rated sitcom for the season. The decision was based on the "totality of Charlie Sheen's statements, conduct and condition," the companies said in a joint statement Thursday. The show's future was not addressed. Production had been suspended in January to allow Sheen to seek rehabilitation.
