Lane Garrison Released from Prison 05/02/09 Lane Garrison has been paroled. A California prisons spokesman says the former "Prison Break" actor was paroled and picked up early Wednesday morning. Garrison had been sentenced in 2007 to serve three years and four months after pleading guilty to vehicular manslaughter and misdemeanor counts of drunken driving and giving alcohol to a minor. He was charged after a December 2006 crash in which Garrison rammed his Land Rover into a tree, killing a 17-year-old girl and injuring two others. Garrison was sentenced to four years of parole and ordered to pay around $300,000 in restitution to the victims and their families.
Emmy Award Winner Bea Arthur Dead at 86 04/26/09 Bea Arthur, the actress best known for her roles as television's "Maude" and the sardonic Dorothy on "The Golden Girls," has died of cancer. Arthur died Saturday morning at her home in Los Angeles, her family by her side. No funeral services are currently planned, Watt said, adding that the family asked that donations be made to either the Art Attack Foundation or PETA in lieu of flowers. Arthur's opinionated Maude first appeared on Norman Lear's "All in the Family" as Edith Bunker's cousin, and was so popular that Lear created a spin-off series. Her first television appearance came in 1951; she quickly made a name for herself with appearances on "Studio One," "Kraft Television Theatre" and "The Sid Caesar Show." Her last television appearance was on "The View" in 2007.

Leno's Thursday and Friday shows were canceled, with reruns taking their place. It was the first time Leno, who took over "Tonight" in 1992, missed a show because of illness.
