CBS Cancels Another Daytime Drama
12/09/09
CBS canceled "As the World Turns" on Tuesday, putting the company that coined the phrase "soap operas" out of the business of making daytime dramas for the first time in 76 years. "As the World Turns" has been on the air since 1956 and televised its 13,661st episode Tuesday. Its last episode will be next September. It's the second daytime drama CBS has canceled in a year, after "Guiding Light." Through the years, actors Marisa Tomei, Meg Ryan, Parker Posey and James Earl Jones have appeared on "As the World Turns." The show follows families in the Illinois town of Oakdale.

'Family Ties' Actor Bonsall Arrested for Assault
12/09/09
"Family Ties" actor Brian Bonsall was arrested on Saturday after allegedly attacking a pal, until police realized he's been wanted for more than a year for another crime. The former child star, who played Michael J. Fox's little brother on the hit '80s sitcom, is said to have hit Michael Trujillo in the face with a splintered bar stool during a night of heavy drinking at his friend's Colorado home. Concerned neighbors alerted authorities, who booked the 28-year-old at the scene despite his claims he had no recollection of the brawl, according to the Colorado Daily. Officials then discovered Bonsall has been wanted since July 2008 after he failed to appear at a hearing for allegedly violating his probation linked to a 2007 assault charge.

Diane Sawyer Says Goodbye To 'Good Morning'
12/08/09
After 10 years, Diane Sawyer is leaving ABC News' "Good Morning America." The veteran newscaster announced on this morning's show that this will be her last week as co-anchor after more than 2,500 "Good Mornings." "I've calculated -- 2,881 shows," she said. "Roughly." The 63-year-old is primed to step behind the desk of the "World News" as the new anchor in January.

Stephanopoulos New 'GMA' Anchor?
12/04/09
An executive with knowledge of the negotiations says ABC News has offered George Stephanopoulos the job of "Good Morning America" co-anchor, although ABC's political expert hasn't said he will take it. Stephanopoulos has been considered the top contender to fill Diane Sawyer's job in the morning after she takes over later this month as "World News" anchor. ABC would not comment on the report and a spokeswoman said Stephanopoulos was unavailable.

'Rocky & Bullwinkle' 50th Birthday
11/28/09
It had now been 50 years since Jay Ward's "Rocky & Bullwinkle" debuted on ABC. The legacy continues with plans for future Rocky & Bullwinkle cinematic outings planned. Jay Ward's shows and characters appealed to kids, but the show was written with adults in mind. The 50th anniversary of "Rocky and Bullwinkle" also means that spy duo Boris & Natasha, Mr. Peabody & Sherman and the Fractured Fairytales are celebrating birthdays as well.
